In Dallas, Texas, a concerned citizen brought an 8-month-old Mastiff at the DFW Rescue Me shelter. The dog lived his first few months as a stray puppy.

The puppy, later named as Brady, was severely emaciated that he could barely lift his head. Brady arrived at the shelter with his bones protruding from his little body.

This is a very special day for our little Brady Justice. Today is his 1st birthday!! We're also thrilled to announce that he has been adopted! Brady came to us just 4 months ago within hours of dying. We don't understand how an owned dog can get this bad but we're so glad he found his way to us! Brady's life was saved by fellow Justice dog, Rose Justice, who donated her blood not once but twice, as well as our amazing vets! Brady was then able to start healing on the inside and become the playful bouncy puppy he was meant to be! Within just a couple of months Brady was a completely different dog and quite the love bug. He loves everyone he meets, two or four legged, which makes sense that it was love at first sight when Deb & George saw him. They are part of our family now and we could not have asked for a better home for Brady. Happy life buddy!

The ideal weight for an 8-month-old Mastiff was supposed to be around 50-60 pounds. However, poor Brady only weighed 20 pounds.

The veterinarians at the DFW Rescue Me organization believed that the puppy suffered from abuse and extreme neglect. Upon thorough examination, the doctors found out that Brady had mange, anemia, and worms.

Brady received help from the DFW Rescue Me volunteers, veterinarians, and a special shelter dog named Rose. Rose is a rescue dog who is no stranger to heartaches.

It turns out that Rose used to be in the same situation as Brady just around two years ago—afraid, injured, and malnourished. Aside from helping Rose recover, DFW Rescue Me found her a family.

When Rose arrived at the shelter to donate blood, the dog’s owner, Dennis Moore, shared that Rose and Brady had an instant connection. Dennis recalled how Rose stood and looked at Brady for a couple of minutes as if she felt sorry for the injured puppy.

Since the anemic puppy suffered from mange, parasites, and anemia, Brady needed urgent medical attention. Luckily, Rose was at the scene, and she was able to donate blood to the injured puppy.

Jim Wenger, the president and co-founder of DFW Rescue Me, said that if Rose did not donate blood, Brady would not have made it through the ordeal. Although the first few days were critical, Brady’s rescuers felt hopeful for his healing.

Brady slowly interacted with his rescuers and started showing interest in his new environment. However, Brady looked happiest every time Rose entered the room.

A couple named George and Deb took Brady under their care after he recovered. The previously sick dog who is shy around people is now a complete love bug who loves meeting and making friends with new people.
